On Sunday, September 20th, The Duke Ellington Center for the Arts is presenting a virtual concert, The Great Reunion: A Celebration of Louis Armstrong & Duke Ellington at 4:00 p.m. (EST).

Join hosts Mercedes Ellington (Artistic Director for DECFA) and Tony Waag (Artistic Director for the American Tap Dance Foundation) as they guide you through the collaborative history of these world-renowned musical giants. This free concert will feature some of our favorite artists, including a special performance of "What a Wonderful World" from the Viper himself Tony, Emmy and Grammy winner André De Shields (Hadestown, The Wiz, The Full Monty, Play on!, Ain't Misbehavin').

Other performers include trumpet player James Zollar, tap dancers DeWitt Fleming Jr., Karen Callaway Williams, and AC Lincoln, ballroom dancers Michael Choi & Vanda Polakova, and singers extraordinaire Kent Drake, Antoinette Montague, Marion Cowings, Ty Stephens, and Sharon K. Janda. With additional performances from Eli Yamin, Andrea Wright, Glafkos Kontemeniotis, and David Ostwald of David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity.

The Duke Ellington Center For the Arts (DECFA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focusing on scholarship, education, and documentation of accurate Ellington history through performances connected to the legacy of Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington (1899-1974). Considered one of America's greatest composers with over 3,000 compositions attributed to him, he is a seminal figure in the history of American music, renowned the world over.
